Emirates ID
The Emirates ID is the UAE's identity card for residents. It is issued with your residence visa and used for almost every official and banking transaction.
What it is used for
Banking, telecoms, tenancy registration, government services, healthcare, and entry through e-gates at UAE airports.
Application
The Emirates ID is applied for together with the residence visa through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or GDRFA. You attend biometrics once, and the card is delivered by courier.
Renewal
The Emirates ID is renewed together with your residence visa. Fines apply for late renewal after the grace period.
Lost or damaged cards
Replacement can be requested online for a fee.
Common questions
Can I travel with only my Emirates ID?
UAE residents can use the Emirates ID for travel to some GCC countries. For all other travel you need your passport.
