Medical fitness test
Most residence visa applicants aged 18 and over take a medical fitness test at an approved centre in the UAE.
What it involves
A blood test and a chest X-ray, and for some occupations additional tests. It usually takes under an hour, and faster at premium service centres.
Where
Government-approved medical fitness centres in each emirate. In Dubai, centres operate under the Dubai Health Authority framework.
Results
Results are sent electronically to immigration, usually within one to three working days, or faster with premium service.
When it is needed
New residence visas and many renewals. Some Golden Visa renewals and certain categories are exempt.
Common questions
Can I take the test outside the UAE?
No. The test must be taken at an approved centre in the UAE.
