The UAE tests for individuals
- Centre of interests: your usual residence and centre of financial and personal interests are in the UAE.
- 183 days: physical presence in the UAE for 183 days or more in a 12-month period.
- 90 days: presence for 90 days or more, combined with UAE or GCC nationality or a UAE residence permit, and a permanent place of residence or employment or business in the UAE.
Meeting a test lets you apply for a Tax residency certificate.
Why home rules matter just as much
Becoming UAE resident does not by itself end residence elsewhere. See Tax residency after moving.
